KEEPING your BALLOONS HAPPy

Balloons are our business and your pleasure, so here are some tips on how you can maximise your balloon enjoyment. Is there anything else you’d like to know? Why not drop us a message and we’ll try and answer your questions

Latex Balloons

You will be pleased to know that all our Latex Balloons are fully biodegradable, however, they will oxidise over time. Latex Balloons will start to matte and become cloudy after around 10-12 hours.

Helium Float Times

Our 11 inch Latex Balloons (including Confetti filled) will stay afloat for 8 – 10 hours.
Our Giant 3 foot Latex Balloons will stay afloat for 24 – 36 hours.
Our Giant 3 Foot Latex Confetti Balloons stay afloat for 24 – 36 hours, but they will begin to get cloudy after 12 – 24 hours.

We recommend the use of Hi-Float on all your latex balloons, except confetti filled, to give them an increased lifespan. Hi-Float will triple the amount of time stated above.

Bubble Balloons by Shenanigans will stay in fine fettle for as much as 10 days and will keep floating for a month, but they’ll be at their best for the first two weeks.

Air Filled Lifespan

When kept inside, our air-filled garlands will last for weeks so you can enjoy them for longer.

BALLOONS DON’T LIKE…

Once you’ve collected your balloons you might be eager to start unwrapping but before you do, here’s a few things to remember that balloons don’t like:

  • Sharp or hot things

  • Pets with claws, beaks and teeth ready to pop them

  • Being pushed and pulled in and out of doorways

  • Not being held tight; they might fly away

  • Car boots and car doors; they can get stuck and damaged

  • When the weather is too hot, too cold, too windy or too wet

A bit more about helium

Helium makes balloons float like a butterfly but just like a butterfly they don’t like the cold; it makes them shrivel up. Our Bubble Balloons don’t shrivel as they are thicker and therefore more resilient. They don’t mind the cold as much and stay full and buoyant.

In the cold, our inflated Foil Balloons can lose a bit of their plumpness during travel but once they are warm inside they return to their full-bodied selves. Heat causes helium particles to expand, causing the balloon also to expand. This means, when the helium particles cool, they shrink, causing the balloon to appear smaller.

Going Al fresco

There’s nothing like celebrating outdoors in the sunshine and fresh air! When outside, all balloons will bob and sway with the wind, but don’t worry, our balloons are specially weighted so they’ll stay put. We’d advise displaying your balloons away from direct exposure to the elements, they don’t like the rain (who does?) and in extreme direct sunlight there is a danger your Balloon may pop.

Ceiling installations

Balloon ceilings transform any room, but there are a few things to keep in mind when planning your ceiling.

The ceiling needs to be smooth, if there are any rough areas the balloons may burst. The best thing to do is carry out a visual inspection and also run your palms across the area to check for sharp sections.

Ceiling lights can also be a hazard, so we advise making sure any spotlights have been turned off for 2 hours before the balloons are placed. Once the balloons are in place do not turn on ceiling lights or your guests will hear a chorus of loud bangs as your beautiful balloons burst with the heat!

 Recycling

Always remember to help the planet by recycling your balloons when you have finished with them, pin it and recycle it.
